Pilates Equipment
Pilates has become a popular way to exercise recently, and there are many different machines that the physical therapists can use to engage your muscles, rehab your body to give you a better quality of life.
Pilates Reformer
The piece of equipment that people probably most associate with Pilates is the Pilates reformer. There are several different types of reformers, including the At Home SPX, Professional, Rehab, V2 Max Plus, and the Vertical Frame-Rehab reformer. These range in price from the least expensive Vertical Frame- Rehab around $1,300 to the most expensive, V2 Max Plus which goes for about $5,400.
The reformer is user-friendly for footwork because it puts the user in a varied-weight bearing position reducing the possibility of pain in an injured portion of the body. It also helps reduce the need for stabilization muscles that are sometimes weak.
Wunda Chair
The stability or Wunda chair is another important machine in the repertoire of the Pilates instructor. It generally goes for just over one thousand dollars and can be used in a variety of ways. The stability chair is very important and useful when trying to work on stability. It forces all your muscles to work together to keep you in place and it challenges you to not overcompensate to either side. The only short-come in the stability chair is that is cannot accommodate a full range of motion in certain exercises.
The Cadillac is an essential part of any Pilates studio. It resembles a cage with ropes and handles all over the place to facilitate many different sorts of stretches and strength exercises. There are at least three types of Cadillac apparatuses that do different things. The cheapest one is the spring wall that goes for only $417. The next expensive piece of equipment is the Cadillac Wall Unit, which goes for just over $1,100. The most expensive is the Cadillac Trapeze Table, which goes for just under $3,200 with some companies. All companies that see Pilates equipment vary in their cost.
There are a lot of ways to use a Cadillac apparatus. Because it is trapeze-like the hanging straps enable the physical therapist or Pilates instructor to help you into positions that will force you to use muscles you didn’t even know you had. One of the definitive and distinct aspects of the Cadillac compared to the other apparatuses is that is enables the most range of motion with is beneficial to a well-rounded exercise program.
There are a lot of kinds of barrels that support your body while you do exercises on the floor using a mat. There are at least five types of barrels, which are: arc barrel, arc barrel deluxe, ladder barrel, spine corrector, and the spine supporter. The arc barrel, arc barrel deluxe and spine supporter range from $160 to $210 while the spine corrector is about $460 and the ladder barrel is over $1,300.
Specifically, the ladder barrel has an endless amount of uses, while doing exercises. It helps with back extensions and supports the back enabling better spine positioning, which helps with posture.
These are the most common equipment that Pilates instructors use when helping their clients achieve a better body health with muscle awareness or help them rehab from an injury or a chronic issue.
